Superb location for bird watching. There always seems to be another trail to find a new site to see. This is a very very large park in fact, tucked away between many great little towns. No matter the season there's always a certain appeal to the seasonal atmosphere here. Cycling the circumference of the park is also a blast, I highly recommend it!

Just wish people would drive more respectfully in the area,ESPECIALLY,when your 'group' is clogging small trail parking and you decide to just stop in the middle if the road because you don't know where you're going!!?? And PLEASE learn how to drive with cyclist on the road!!! I was almost hit head on by an idiot all the way on the wrong side of the road!! DIDN'T HAVE TO BE!
The best part about working in Morristown is that I can go over here right after work. I'm an avid wildlife photographer and there aren't many other areas in Central NJ which are as suited as Great Swamp.
A nice place to go for some peace in nature. I love the raised walkway through the swamp. Best time to go is in the late spring IMO. That’s when the wildlife seems to be most active.
I'd highly recommend it for anyone interested in nature, photography, or just someone who'd rather enjoy the world around them instead of watching it on TV.
